The Marketplace Labs team at Lyft is responsible for new innovations in the rideshare industry. The team is especially focused on identifying and building step change improvements to how Lyft operates and was responsible for the launch of novel products such as Wait and Save. What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate on backend architecture and technical roadmap aligned with product and business goal
  • Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable, and well-tested backend service
  • Drive code quality through thoughtful code reviews and continuous improvement
  • Take ownership of complex projects from idea to execution
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to unblock challenges and deliver results
  • Share knowledge through documentation, team discussions, and mentoring moments
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of backend software engineering experience in production environments
  • Strong foundation in computer science or related field (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in Python or Go (or a strong willingness to learn)
  • Experience with object-oriented programming and building distributed systems
  • Comfortable working with relational or NoSQL databases
  • Skilled at writing scalable systems and clear, concise design documentation
  • Passionate about building impactful systems in a collaborative, mission-driven team

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week, including on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $108,000-$135,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
