WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Mutual Funds and GIC Maintenance and Support team is responsible for sustaining the performance, compliance, and reliability of both vendor and in-house Mutual Funds Trading and GIC Issuer applications. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a collaborative and fast paced environment with multiple varying priorities, values process efficiency, and is passionate about system stability, documentation, and continuous improvements.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Provide day-to-day support for Mutual Funds Trading and GIC Issuer systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents by analyzing logs, databases, and system behaviours, ensuring timely restoration of service and root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal development teams for escalations and long-term fixes.
  • Using the DevSecOps pipeline, develop, test and deploy code packages to various environments enhancing system functionality and stability.
  • Collaborate with project managers, various stakeholders, developers and QA teams to ensure successful rollouts with minimal impact.
  • Implement and enhance monitoring and alerting frameworks in alignment with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices.
  • Create dashboards and automate operational tasks to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Participate in automating manual tasks to improve system reliability and reduce operational toil
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
  • Document production issues, solutions, application configuration, business rules, data flows, and end-to-end business processes to support cross-training, improve supportability, and business continuity.
  • Collaborate with business users and product owners to capture, validate, and translate business requirements related to Mutual Funds and GIC workflows into technical tasks.
  • Provide feedback on feasibility, timelines, and impact.
  • Ensure applications comply with internal banking regulation, IT security policies, and external regulatory standards (Fundserv, Cannex, CDIC, OSFI, SOX, SOC)
  • Support vulnerability remediation efforts and documentation required for audit readiness

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree coupled with change management experience in complex programs with high frequency of requests and multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
  • Strong organizational, project management and time management capabilities.
  • A strong understanding of technology and/or financial services industry.
  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Exposure to IT compliance or regulatory high pace environments.
  • Understanding of monitoring and incident management tools such as ServiceNow, and Dynatrace

Nice-to-have:

  • Understanding of RDBMS and Non-SQL databases
  • Use and understanding of DevSecOps pipeline
  • Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
