Job summary

Agam Capital is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs in Toronto. You will build reliable, enterprise-grade software and collaborate with frontend, product, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features.

You will design robust database schemas, optimize queries, and participate in CI/CD and production operations, ensuring performance, security, and observability across services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in backend or full‑stack software development.
• Strong experience building backend applications and RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of database design and development, including SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience deploying and supporting enterprise‑scale applications.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and version control (Git).
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Exposure to monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience developing or integrating AI-powered or agentic systems, including LLM‑based applications, AI agents, or workflow automation.
• Experience with event‑driven architectures or messaging systems.
• Familiarity with modern authentication and security standards (OAuth, JWT, OpenID Connect).
