Job description

Front End Software Engineer, 3D Applications

Specializing in WebGL, Three.js, and immersive data visualization

Remote (Canada)

We’re building the tools that help companies make sense of virtual worlds — and we’re looking for a front-end engineer who loves turning complex data into immersive, interactive web experiences.

You’ll play a key role in developing SceneExplorer, our flagship 3D replay tool that shows exactly what happened in a customer’s immersive simulation. (Check it out: https://cognitive3d.com/product/scene-explorer/)

We’re a remote-first team based in Canada. We value autonomy, strong communication, and cross-functional collaboration.

About Cognitive3D

We build a platform that records, measures, and analyzes data from VR, AR, and MR experiences. Our tools help customers:

  • Build better immersive products
  • Understand physical spaces in new ways
  • Improve training outcomes
  • Quantify human performance in XR environments

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain 3D web front-end features using WebGL (WebGPU, three.js)
  • Build immersive and performant visualizations integrated into our web dashboard
  • Own feature development from design through implementation
  • Collaborate across design, backend, and product teams
  • Participate in code reviews, internal knowledge sharing, and technical documentation
  • Continuously learn and evaluate tools, workflows, and frameworks

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in front-end development
  • Strong background in WebGL or similar WebGL/3D frameworks like three.js or babylon.js
  • Experience with browser-based 3D simulations or visualizations
  • Solid web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript)
  • Experience with React or Angular and state management (Redux, MobX, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Webpack, Vite, or modern build tools
  • Great communication skills, including technical documentation
  • Ability to break down work into features, tasks, and deliverables

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, or PlayCanvas
  • VR/AR/MR development background
  • Experience with agile teams and DevOps culture
  • (We use “agile light” — backlog, sprints, and t-shirt-sized estimates — and believe strongly in DevOps to boost developer velocity.)

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Stock options for every employee
  • Remote-first work from anywhere in Canada
  • High-end Mac laptop with dual monitors and accessories
  • Everyone gets a VR headset
  • Home-office budget (chair, desk, etc.)
  • Annual budget for conferences and learning
  • Team meetups in Vancouver, Toronto, Whistler, and beyond
