Description

This provides Amazon buyers a one-stop experience to find all information about the product, sellers who are selling the product, and offers available for purchase. The Item Data Service (IDS) organization is responsible for establishing product identity and attributes, which support product detail pages, supply chain, and fulfillment use cases across all marketplaces. Our services and products directly impact both seller and buyer experiences. As the world's largest product catalog with billions of products and transactions daily, the scale of our services is massive. We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the development of innovative solutions to enrich and optimize product data, addressing inaccuracies and inefficiencies across Amazon's supply chain and fulfillment networks. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team working on a v1 product, with high visibility and collaboration across multiple SVP organizations.

Key job responsibilities

1. Drive technical vision and architecture, making strategic decisions that balance innovation with operational excellence
2. Manage stakeholder communications and project visibility across organizations
3. Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team through effective hiring, mentoring, and career development, fostering an inclusive Agile/Scrum environment
4. Own end-to-end delivery, including planning, execution, and success measurement based on metrics
5. Balance business requirements against technical constraints
6. Establish robust monitoring, alerting, and automation systems to maintain operational excellence and manage technical debt
7. Create and optimize feedback loops with Selling Partners to improve data quality across global marketplaces
8. Drive technical innovation through complex distributed systems design, ML/AI implementation, and process improvements
9. Establish best practices for critical catalog platform services

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
• 3+ years designing or architecting systems (patterns, reliability, scaling)
• 8+ years leading the development of multi-tier web services
• Knowledge of engineering practices across the full software/hardware/network lifecycle
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership about requirements, design, and strategy
• Experience recruiting, mentoring, and managing software engineers to improve skills and effectiveness
