Job summary

2K Games, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Manager to guide the growth of our internal Engineering Services team across AAA projects and platforms. The role blends hands-on coding with people leadership to help engineers grow and deliver outstanding player experiences.

You will partner with studio leaders to align resources with project timelines, establish best practices for code reviews and documentation, and foster a culture of continuous learning within a distributed staff.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering in the video game industry.
  • 2+ years directly managing engineers.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, or custom engines.
  • Shipped multiple AAA console titles.
  • Excellent C/C++ programming skills.
  • Strong communication with external studios.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Game Development.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a distributed team of 8+ staff engineers, driving a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Build Individual Development Plans (IDPs), set annual performance goals, and establish paths for progression into craft or people leadership roles.
  • Partner with studio leaders and internal producers to align engineering resource deployment with project timelines and milestone objectives.
  • Establish studio best practices around code reviews, technical documentation, and proactive feedback loops.
  • Keep engineering skills sharp by contributing to non-critical path coding, technical proofs of concept, and code reviews.

You will balance hands-on mentorship with structured people leadership to help our developers grow and deliver outstanding player experiences.

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in the video game industry, with 2+ years directly managing engineers.
  • Strong engine experience (Unreal Engine, Unity, or custom engines).
  • Shipped multiple AAA console titles with a deep understanding of console development pipelines, certification, and hardware capabilities.
  • Excellent programming skills in C/C++ and solid comprehension of multi-threaded architectures.
  • Strong communication skills to manage external studio relationships and translate technical risks to non-technical partners.
  • Undergrad or higher degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or equivalent experience.
Bonus Points
  • Practical experience working on multiplayer, networking, rendering, physics, or console porting.
