Intellijoint Surgical is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the R&D software teams delivering native macOS and web applications for medical devices. You will plan releases, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure adherence to quality systems and regulatory requirements.

We are seeking a Software Development Manager to join our R&D team to oversee the successful delivery of software products across multiple product lines. This role plans, coordinates, and manages the development and release of compliant software solutions for our medical device portfolio.
The Software Development Manager will lead development teams responsible for native macOS applications and web-based applications. Working closely with Product Management, Project Management, Systems Engineering, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Operations, this role ensures software products are delivered on schedule, meet product requirements, and comply with applicable medical device regulations and quality management system requirements. The Software Development Manager will balance flexibility and rigor in their approach and bring a proactive, delivery-focused, and customer-centric management style.
Accountable for the Software Development function (people and process) from backlog refinement through inline testing
Facilitate the planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects across multiple project teams.
Develop and maintain software project schedules, release plans, resource forecasts, and delivery roadmaps.
Monitor project progress, identify risks and dependencies, and implement mitigation strategies.
Provide regular communication based on existing KPI’s; develop new KPI’s as necessary.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to align technical teams with business objectives.
Serve internal customers with excellence, ensuring business priorities are respected.
Accountability for agile process compliance and evolution.
Remove obstacles impacting team productivity and delivery performance.
Coach team members to improve planning, estimation, execution, and continuous improvement practices.
Foster a culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
Ensure compliance with applicable medical device regulations, standards, and internal quality procedures.
Support design control activities including requirements traceability, risk management, verification, validation, and change control.
Ensure software development and release artifacts are maintained within the Design History File (DHF).
Support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions as required.
Leverage a strong command of privacy and cybersecurity best practices to influence design and process.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs where appropriate.
Partner with Product Management to balance customer needs, product priorities, technical constraints, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure successful product delivery by collaborating with software, systems, hardware, quality, and operations teams.
Facilitate issue resolution, risk assessment, and decision-making across multiple concurrent projects.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and change management efforts across software development and release processes.
Accountable for development tooling, automation, CI/CD processes, and software lifecycle management practices.
Promote scalable and efficient development processes while maintaining compliance requirements.
Ensure a pragmatic, well-informed, well-thought-out, and ambitious utilization of generative AI.
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience, including 3+ years leading technical teams and managing people.
Experience delivering commercial software products, through the full software development lifecycle.
Experience managing Agile software development teams and release planning activities.
Experience developing software for hardware-based products; DevOps experience is an asset.
Strong understanding of software development methodologies, SDLC processes, and software quality practices.
Experience with Jira, Confluence, Git-based workflows, and modern development toolchains.
Experience in regulated industries; Experience in medical device is a strong asset.
Experience supporting regulated software products, audits, verification and validation activities, and design history file documentation.
Strong command of privacy and cybersecurity.
Practical experience using generative AI tools.
Strong project planning, prioritization, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
