Job summary

RBC is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the Caribbean technology team or Canada-based squad. You will design, build, and maintain automated tests for Core Banking and Specialized applications, driving early defect detection and quality engineering practices.

Candidate will collaborate with engineers to implement AI-driven testing approaches, expand test coverage, and contribute to test plans and walkthroughs. Strong programming and testing fundamentals are essential.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript, with solid software development principles.
• Familiarity with test automation tools/frameworks (Playwright, Cucumber, RestAssured, Robot Framework, TestNG) and Git.
• Knowledge of software testing concepts including test case design, API/microservices testing, and non-functional testing.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on optimizing testing processes through automation.

What is the opportunity?

RBC is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our RBC Caribbean technology team, supporting Core Banking and Specialized applications. In this role, you’ll apply your strong programming and computer science foundation to contribute to quality engineering (QE) processes, test automation, and methodologies. Your focus will be on designing and implementing automation solutions to enhance quality through early defect detection, while collaborating with experienced engineers to refine your skills in industry-leading tools and frameworks.

Must-have

• Knowledge of software testing concepts, including test case design, API/microservices testing, and non-functional testing (e.g., performance, security).
• Analytical mindset with a focus on optimizing testing processes through automation.

Nice-to-have

• Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies as a Quality Engineer or SDET.
• Coursework or projects involving AI-driven testing, BDD, or microservices architectures.
