Job summary

RBC is seeking a Quality Engineering or Automation Student to support a range of RBC Technology & Operations initiatives in Toronto. Roles include Quality Engineer and Automation Analyst through the Student/Coop program.

You will assist with automated test plans, QA testing, and tooling; apply data warehouse concepts and ensure compliance with development standards. This entry-level opportunity targets current post-secondary students across tech disciplines.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on CS/tech/engineering.
• Leadership mindset and ability to apply it in a dynamic business setting.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Creative and analytical thinker who works well in fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to learn quickly and apply new knowledge.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with QA methods, testing approaches and frameworks.
• Experience with SQL and/or VBA.
• Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and analytics architecture.

• Create plans for, update, and execute QA testing.
• Support programming testing tools for internal use.
• Maintain and provide accurate testing status reports during testing phases.
• Maintain documentation of test results according to defined tools.
• Support of upgrades to the testing environment.
• Automate reporting processes by using the combination of tools of Blue Prism, VBA and SQL.
• Apply data warehouse concepts and methodologies to various projects.
• Confirm that projects adhere to development standards and guidelines.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on computer science, technology, or engineering.
• Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
• Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge.
• Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong systematic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of QA methods, testing approaches, frameworks, and methodologies.
• Experience in SQL and or VBA.
• Knowledge of design, development, and implementation utilizing current analytics technologies and architecture, as well as data warehouse concepts and methodologies.

Nice-to-have

• Automation Expertise (Blue Prism, etc.) and experience using BI Tools including Tableau, Elastic.
• Prior experience in data integration of disparate data sources.
• Relational database concepts and design experience.
