Finance Automation (FinAuto) is the Finance Operations’ (FinOps) tech team. Our mission is to enable Finance Operations to support the growth and expansion of Amazon businesses. We are a force multiplier through automation and self-service, while ensuring accurate and on-time payments and collections. We are in the unique position to look across Finance Operations and provide solutions that satisfy the needs of multiple teams at once. Within FinAuto org, WorkCenter team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to create reliable, scalable applications that serve thousands of Financial Operations (FinOps) analysts. In this role, you will :

  • Design and implement cloud-based financial processing systems
  • Build user-facing applications that maintain 99.99% availability
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, internal customers, and development teams across Amazon
  • Develop new features while meeting strict operational standards
  • Work with multiple programming languages and modern cloud technologies

  • Design and develop scalable, fault-tolerant financial systems that power Amazon's operations

  • Architect and build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are efficient, cost-effective, and user-friendly
  • Transform complex, broadly defined problems into elegant technical solutions
  • Mentor junior team members and participate in design and code reviews to ensure high-quality software delivery
  • Create and contribute to technical documentation, architecture designs, and implementation strategies
  • Thrive in an agile environment, continuously adapting to evolving project needs and timelines

About the team

Our vision is to build a single workbench in support of Finance Operations. The north star for WorkCenter is to be the one-stop, high performance tool for all FinOps teams at Amazon. WorkCenter will optimize operations efficiency, improve FinOps analyst experience and enhance supplier / vendor / customer experience across all FinOps verticals, including AP, AR, Payroll, GCP and GREF.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
