Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC, based in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for the Omnichannel Metrics (OCM) team. You will own end-to-end architecture for large-scale data pipelines, real-time attribution, and ML-powered reporting, leveraging Spark/EMR, Scala, Java, Python, and AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, CDK).
You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and partner with applied scientists and product managers to translate complex problems into scalable
At the intersection of big data, machine learning, and advertising measurement, Amazon's Omnichannel Metrics (OCM) team is doing genuinely hard work — and they're hiring a Software Development Engineer II to help shape where it all goes next. Based in Toronto, Ontario, this role sits within MADS (Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science), one of Amazon Ads' highest-growth divisions, where the problems are complex, the ambiguity is real, and the impact reaches S-team and VP-level visibility.
OCM answers the question every advertiser wants answered: did my Amazon campaign drive sales at Target, Walmart, Costco, and beyond? The team builds ML-powered attribution systems that connect billions of ad impressions to real-world purchases across the retail landscape. As an SDE II, you won't be handed a spec — you'll be defining what to build and how, with architectural decisions that become the system itself.
This is an end-to-end ownership position. You'll design and deliver major system components — from distributed data pipelines processing billions of events in Apache Spark and EMR, to AI-powered report generation features, to real-time streaming attribution systems that reduce reporting latency from weeks to days. The tech stack spans Scala, Java, and Python, with deep use of AWS infrastructure including Lambda, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and CDK.
The role goes beyond individual contribution. You'll lead technical design reviews, mentor junior engineers, raise the bar on code quality, and partner directly with applied scientists on ML model productionisation and with product managers to translate ambiguous customer problems into scalable solutions. If you thrive in fast-moving environments and get energised by problems that sit at the edge of what's technically possible, this team is built for you.
This position offers a base salary range of $114,800 to $191,800 CAD annually, with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

A typical day on the OCM team might begin by reviewing an overnight calibration pipeline run, pairing with an applied scientist on a Spark optimisation, then leading a design review for a new streaming architecture. These responsibilities reflect the breadth of technical ownership this role demands — from infrastructure to mentorship to ML productionisation.
The ideal candidate brings a proven track record delivering complex distributed systems in fast-moving environments. Amazon values engineers who take ownership seriously — those who can navigate ambiguity, make strong architectural calls, and still find time to elevate the people around them.
