Amazon's 3P AV Measurement team in Toronto, Ontario is hiring a Software Development Engineer II to help build the next generation of third-party advertising measurement solutions. If you're drawn to big data challenges and want your work to directly shape how advertisers understand the performance of campaigns across platforms like Streaming TV, Live Sports, Online Video Ads, Sponsored Brands Video, Sponsored Display Video, and Audio Ads, this role puts you right at the centre of that mission.
This is a technically deep position with genuine architectural ownership. Day to day, you'll be designing and building data-intensive analytical systems at massive scale, working across a stack that includes Amazon Clean Room, Spark (Scala), EMR, S3, Elasticsearch, JVM-based services, and cluster management infrastructure overseeing thousands of daily executions. The team is small enough that your decisions matter, and autonomous enough that you can actually innovate.
As an SDE II on the 3P AV Measurement team, you'll take ownership of the full lifecycle — from design and implementation through testing and deployment — of systems that help advertisers trust Amazon's measurement capabilities. The team's vision is to build differentiated metrics that demonstrate the unique value of Amazon's ad inventory, and you'll be an integral part of making that happen through principled engineering and creative problem-solving.
The environment here is deliberately low in unnecessary structure. You'll find minimal meeting overhead when you need focus time, and plenty of opportunity to collaborate closely with equally talented engineers on hard problems. Cutting through ambiguity, making sound architectural decisions, and driving meaningful technical improvements are all core expectations of this role.
The base salary range for this position in Toronto is $114,800 to $191,800 CAD annually. Amazon's total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.
Job Type: Full-Time
Company: Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC
Location: Toronto, ON
Pay: $114,800 – $191,800 CAD per year
In this role, you'll own meaningful slices of a large-scale advertising measurement platform that processes data at enormous volume across Amazon's ad products. Your contributions will span the entire engineering lifecycle — architectural design, implementation, testing, and production deployment — all with a focus on reliability, scalability, and analytical precision.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software architecture and distributed systems, paired with the analytical rigour to solve complex, large-scale engineering problems. Amazon's 3P AV Measurement team values engineers who can work independently, make sound design decisions, and bring genuine curiosity to hard technical challenges.
