Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer will have a unique opportunity to shape the development of the world\'s largest and most complex networks.

A day in the life


  • Collaborate with other Software Engineers and Network Development Engineers to demonstrate and iterate on your solutions.

  • Keep a pulse on the current system health, dive deep into customer issues, and provide insights to improve the system\'s robustness.

  • Make code contributions to all aspects of the system - be it alarm definitions, optimization algorithm improvements, or new features.

  • Share your knowledge with the IES organization.


About The Team

Internet Edge Services (IES) enables optimal connectivity for AWS customers. We build and operate software systems that optimize AWS\'s global Internet traffic, enhancing network performance and availability while providing operational visibility and control capabilities. Our team provides connectivity solutions for a wide range of use cases, such as retail (amazon.com), video streaming (Prime Video), content delivery (CloudFront), DNS (Route53), AWS services (such as EC2/S3), consumer devices (such as FireTV/Kindle/Echo), and more.


Basic Qualifications


  • 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language


Preferred Qualifications


  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor\'s degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon\'s package may include other elements such as sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well‑being.
