Job description

DESCRIPTION

Come join the Amazon Kids team in Toronto! Amazon Kids gives children the content they love on devices built just for them — while giving parents the oversight and controls they need to feel safe. Our team builds the technology that powers Amazon Kids subscription acquisition and management: enabling kids to play, learn, discover, and request content, while parents stay in control by approving what their kids can access.

Do you want to build the technology that underpins subscription experiences for millions of customers across Fire Tablet, Fire TV, Kindle, Echo, Alexa, web, Android, and retail? We're looking for a talented Software Development Engineer with a track record of building and shipping innovative back-end solutions to help shape our team and its technical direction.

Our systems underpin the full subscription lifecycle — acquisition, billing, payments, accounting, and entitlements — across multiple devices, surfaces, and international marketplaces. You'll work on complex problems that span organizational boundaries, designing robust services that handle subscription logic, multi-channel acquisition flows, and compliance requirements across North America, Europe, and East Asia.

Key job responsibilities

You'll design and build scalable back-end services that power subscription creation, lifecycle management, and payment processing for Amazon Kids. You'll own and operate solutions in a hybrid environment where engineers drive technical decisions, collaborating across partner teams to deliver seamless cross-platform experiences. You'll also influence team culture by raising the bar on engineering practices, mentoring peers, and championing operational excellence.

A day in the life

In this role, you'll leverage your experience as a Software Engineer to solve difficult technical problems. You'll invent, design and build software that solves the challenges that kids and their parents face day-to-day. You'll work closely with your leadership and product management stakeholders to design simple solutions. You'll help to maintain our production software in the field and you'll identify our pain points and drive your team to solve them. You'll help make your team better, more efficient, and a more enjoyable place to work.

About the team

Amazon Kids+ brings together all types of content that kids and parents love, including books, Audible books, movies, TV shows, educational apps and games, plus a child-friendly Alexa experience. It provides peace of mind for parents with award-winning parental controls and monitoring through Parent Dashboard, and a world of fun for kids where they can choose from thousands of the most popular titles and age-appropriate content. Amazon Kids is available on Fire Tablets, Fire TV, Kindle e-readers, compatible Android and iOS mobile devices, and compatible Alexa devices. Here's more information: http://www.the company/kids.
