Job summary

Ford of Canada is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to join the Telemetry Control Unit (TCU) team. You will design, implement, and test new features across multiple embedded systems, collaborating with internal and external teams to deliver robust software.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of C++ experience, knowledge of POSIX embedded OSs like Linux or QNX, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in programming, computer science or engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in C++ (11 or newer) and object-oriented programming concepts.
  • POSIX-compliant embedded OS experience (e.g., Linux, QNX).
  • Development tools: git, repo, make, gcc, g++, gdb.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and testing new features.
  • Supporting downstream teams by investigating issues and resolving defects on the existing code base.
  • Optimizing performance and improving robustness of the software.

The successful candidate will join an agile software development team within Ford's Telemetry Control Unit (TCU) organization — an energetic team that works on a variety of features providing functionality that directly impacts end customer experience.

The posting is for an existing vacancy within our team. The expected annual salary range for this Ford of Canada position is $89,000.00 - $139,000.00 and individuals may be eligible to participate in our Annual Compensation bonus program. Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
