Job summary

Ford of Canada is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Product Digital Integrity group. The role focuses on early defect detection, quality improvement, and adherence to automotive safety standards across infotainment, gateways, and telematics.

You will coach teams on software quality practices, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to drive robust software verification and validation processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in the automotive industry, focusing on quality, warranty analysis, or verification & validation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead early defect detection and prevention strategies across software development.
  • Define methods and strategies for process improvement to enhance software quality and reliability.
  • Conduct software design reviews to ensure compliance with architectural and quality standards.
  • Support Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) efforts to proactively identify and mitigate software risks.
  • Participate in engineering joint reviews and quality reviews to ensure best practices in software development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve software verification and validation processes.
  • Analyze warranty, field, and test data to identify systemic software quality issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal teams to enhance software quality, focusing on infotainment, connected gateways, and telematics.
  • Coach and train engineering teams on software quality best practices, including ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ASPICE compliance.
  • Contribute to process development and improvement within the software quality organization.
  • Effectively communicate complex software issues to both engineering teams and executive leadership.

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Product Digital Integrity organization. This role is critical in driving early defect detection and prevention to enhance software quality across our automotive platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for coaching and training teams to improve software engineering practices.

What you'll do…

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience:

  • 5 + years of software engineering experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on quality, warranty analysis, or verification & validation.
  • 2+ Years of experience in software defect detection and prevention methodologies.
  • 2+ Years of experience in software design reviews to ensure compliance with architectural and quality standards.
  • 2+ Years of experience in Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) for software systems.
  • 2+ Years of experience in ISO 26262 Functional Safety implementation and assessments.
  • Embedded software development expertise, with experience in C/C++, AUTOSAR, or similar technologies.
  • Experience in ASPICE, ISO.

Experience:

  • 5 + years of software engineering experience in the automotive industry, with a strong focus on quality, warranty analysis, or verification & validation.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence.
  • Experience with audits and assessments.
  • Experience working with infotainment, connected gateways, or telematics is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of ASPICE and software process assessments.
  • Experience in DevOps, continuous integration, and automated software testing.
  • Understanding of open-source software compliance and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and training skills to drive cultural and technical improvements.
