• 5+ years of software development and programming experience.

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Software Developer with strong hands-on expertise in C#, .NET, Microsoft Azure, and microservices development for a potential long-term engagement.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development, enhancement, testing, and deployment of enterprise applications and services within a Microsoft Azure environment. The role requires practical software development experience, including contract-first development practices, established design patterns, and event-driven microservices.

Work is expected to be primarily remote, although onsite attendance in Ottawa may be required depending on assignment requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, test, and maintain software applications and microservices using C# and .NET.
• Translate formal technical specifications, API contracts, interface definitions, and schemas into working software solutions.
• Develop and maintain microservices, including event-driven services and integrations.
• Implement solutions using established software design patterns and contract-first development practices.
• Work with Azure services, including Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, and Azure Cosmos DB.
• Perform unit testing, troubleshoot defects, and support deployment activities.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and quality assurance teams to deliver reliable software solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation, deployment instructions, and development status updates.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience performing software development and programming activities.
• 5+ years of hands‑on C# development experience within the last 10 years.
• 5+ years of experience within the last 10 years developing commercial software products, cloud business applications on commercial PaaS platforms, or core business operations applications.
• 2+ years of hands‑on microservices development experience within the last 5 years, working as a primary or intermediate developer.
• 5+ years of experience within the last 10 years implementing software solutions using established design patterns and contract‑first development practices, where formal technical specifications drive design, development, testing, and integration.
• 1+ year of hands‑on development experience within the last 6 years using Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, Azure Cosmos DB, or a combination of these technologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Azure DevOps repositories, pipelines, and artifacts.
• Experience with Azure PaaS services, .NET Core, and modern cloud application architectures.
• Familiarity with Bicep Infrastructure as Code.
