Job summary

Hammond Power Solutions Inc. is seeking a Software Developer, Data and AI for a 12‑month contract in Guelph, Ontario. You will design, develop and maintain enterprise data solutions, supporting analytics and AI initiatives across the business.

The role emphasizes data architecture, cloud migration, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver scalable software. Reporting to the Manager of Software Development, you will work with Azure data tools, AI/ML technologies, and BI dashboards, bringing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years’ professional experience in SQL and ETL design with dimensional modelling and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies including LLM, Prompt Engineering, Vector Databases, AI Agents, Agentic AI, AI-powered coding, and MCP.
  • Proficiency with Azure technologies such as Data Fabric, Synapse, ADFS, App Service, CI/CD pipelines and Power BI.
  • AI-powered programming experience with Python, C or C#.

Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end data solutions (data models, data warehouse, data marts, semantic layers and OLAP cubes) to support analytics, reporting and AI use cases.
  • Implement modernization and cloud migration for legacy warehouses and pipelines.
  • Ensure data quality, lineage and observability across pipelines and models.
  • Design and deliver BI dashboards and self-service reports.
  • Document architecture, data flows and data definitions to support maintainability.
  • Collaborate on AI/ML project design; translate business problems into data and modeling requirements.
  • Prepare datasets: cleaning, enrichment and feature engineering.
  • Assist with model integration, deployment, monitoring and retraining procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specs.
  • Efficiently leverage AI-powered coding assistants to develop high-quality software solutions.
  • Create and maintain scalable, secure code; participate in code reviews and continuous improvement.

For the past century, HPS has grown to deliver electrical power solutions to global markets and provides solutions for complex applications like, mining, rectifier, drives, traction, wind, solar and many other electrical power applications. The world relies on HPS to continually conceive and produce state‑of‑the‑art transformer technology. We currently have an opening for a Software Developer, Data and AI– 12 month contract, come grow with us!

Reporting to the Manager, Software Development, this role designs, develops and maintains enterprise data solutions that support business operations and strategic decision‑making, including data solution architecture, integration and transformation. The incumbent also contributes to AI project lifecycle activities --- data preparation, model implementation, deployment, and ongoing support --- while building scalable, cloud‑ready software applications.

Working closely with business stakeholders across departments, this role gathers requirements, implements and delivers data and AI‑driven solutions, and ensures effective knowledge transfer through user training and support.

Key Responsibilities Include

Do you qualify? We are seeking:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years’ professional experience in SQL and ETL design, with solid understanding dimensional modelling and data warehousing concepts, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval and analysis of large datasets.
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies including: LLM, Prompt Engineering, Vector Databases, AI Agents, Agentic AI, AI‑powered coding, and MCP.
  • Prior experience in Azure Technologies such as Data Fabric, Synapse, ADFS, App Service, CI/CD pipeline and Power BI.
  • AI‑powered programming experience with Python, C or C#.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for software development.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

For this role, the base salary range is $96,800.00 to $145,200.00 with final offers determined by experience, qualifications, and role complexity.
