Job summary

Geotab is seeking a Software Developer Intern on the Systems team for a 4-month co-op term. You will work across the full stack, designing, building, and optimizing the core platform powering Vitality's driver-behavior features.

This paid internship runs 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, starting January 2027. You will write modern TypeScript/React UI, backend services using C#/.NET, and use BigQuery/GCP to process telemetry data.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering or related field.
• Experience with React, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS is an asset.
• Knowledge of backend systems such as C# .NET Core / .NET 7+.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) in your workflow is an asset.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Enthusiasm for team social activities.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills, and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize the core platform powering driver-behavior features.

What you'll do:

As a Software Developer Intern on the Systems team, you will work across the full stack to design, build, and optimize the core platform powering Vitality's driver-behavior features. You will write modern TypeScript/React for user interfaces, build robust backend services using C#/.NET and SQL, and leverage BigQuery and GCP to process complex telemetry data. You will collaborate closely with product managers and engineers across the team, gaining deep exposure to modern full-stack development workflows.

The opportunity:

4 month work-term beginning January 2027.

Full-time, paid internship: Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs/week.

How you'll make an impact:

• Participate in team meetings, planning, and design discussions.
• Use Git (Bitbucket) for source control and follow our code review process.
• Develop UI components using TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS (React).
• Develop backend services and APIs using C# on .NET.
• Write automated unit tests as part of a test-driven workflow.
• Create and maintain database access code using SQL.
• Use BigQuery/GCP to help analyze and understand product and telemetry data.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across the stack, from UI to backend to data.
• Write clear technical documentation for the features you build.
• Leverage modern AI development tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, and technical documentation workflows.

What you'll bring to the role:

• Pursuing a Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with React, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS is an asset.
• Knowledge of backend systems such as C# .NET Core / .NET 7+
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) in your workflow is an asset.
