What is the opportunity?
As a Software Developer in Test, you will be Developer Lead and accountable for driving quality and champion defect prevention/early defect detection by utilizing automation. You will be responsible for developing and executing test plans for ecosystem/program/large projects. You will work in a blend-in role where you will help other developers in developing/deploying applications or lead the technical test effort by exploring and implementing opportunities within our automation processes, provide test infrastructure support and implement opportunities within the DevOps pipeline, including application of CI/CD principles.
What will you do?
Responsible for managing project test activities and aligning to RBC Quality Engineering practices while partnering across IT and with assigned business lines to plan functional and nonfunctional testing activities and managing project resources and vendor coordination.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining DevOps pipeline Github actions.
Participate in design and architectural discussions to understand testability and automation test impact of new features.
Responsible for test case creation and execution, maximizing automation (Simple/Medium/High complexity).
Work in a blend-in role to help developers in fixing bugs, implementing enhancements by writing code.
Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders, and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.
Provide coaching to team members on QE, Agile, DevOps, and applicable RBC processes, practices, and tools.
Responsible for developing project/program test plans and strategies with a focus on optimized coverage for assigned programs/projects through the application lifecycle and managing end-to-end quality project activities with a focus on test automation at all levels of testing.
Responsible for utilizing service virtualization tools to enable early and continuous testing.
Monitor and report on environment availability and stability of AUT using automation smoke scripts.
Support and execute Performance Management processes by providing feedback on resources and ensuring development plans & performance reviews are in place and support senior management in the development of workforce skill sets in order to meet transformation needs and achieve strategic goals.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
2 to 7 years of enterprise software development experience, with technical leadership in a variety of environments (cloud, services/APIs, distributed or mainframe, business workflows, and databases).
Experience in DevOps operations including CI/CD principles, Github actions, understanding of Automated build/deploy process through Jenkins.
Hands-on expertise in a variety of automation frameworks/tools (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, Playwright, SOAPUI, Postman), and script development using scripting languages (e.g. Python, Java, etc.).
Hands-on programming experience (e.g., Python, Java, SQL DB querying, & PowerShell) and source code configuration tools (GIT, SVN, MKS).
Strong business Domain knowledge to ensure the ability to deploy appropriate testing techniques and methodologies to resolve business goals & analyze business logic, processes, data attributes, and business rules.
Hands-on experience with defining Test strategy and test approach for Agile and Non-agile projects.
Database technologies (e.g. MongoDB, DB2, SQL, IMS) and strong SQL and Stored procedure experience.
Document Test artifacts in Jira/Qtest Manager.
Experience with XML, HTML, and JSON.
Nice to have
Experience reviewing artifacts including code reviews (application and test automation scripts).
Experience with non-functional testing (performance, UI/UX, Accessibility, etc.).
Web, Pega API development experience.
QA Certifications.
Interest and ability to learn other coding languages.
