Job description

Software Developer I - Site Reliability

Saskatoon, SK

Are you eager to apply your technical knowledge to real-world challenges? Excited to be part of a team that ensures systems are reliable, fast, and secure? We’re looking for an entry-level Software Developer to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team and grow your career while helping us deliver dependable, high-performing services to thousands of users around the world.

About the Job

Vendasta’s SRE team lays the groundwork for operational excellence, system performance, and reliability across our SaaS platform. As an entry-level Software Developer on this team, you’ll learn how to write clean, maintainable code while also exploring how infrastructure, tooling, and observability come together to power a scalable, secure platform.

You’ll be supported by a collaborative team of experienced engineers who are passionate about automation, system health, and learning. Whether you’re writing your first internal tool, assisting with deployment pipeline enhancements, or helping diagnose an issue, your contributions will help ensure our platform stays strong and reliable as it grows.

Your Impact

As a Software Developer, you'll work with other SREs, platform engineers, and product development teams to:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of infrastructure systems and internal tools that support system reliability and scalability.
  • Assist in improving observability by implementing and maintaining monitoring systems.
  • Learn and support the implementation of infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD processes.
  • Participate in diagnosing system issues and improving system performance under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Take part in incident response simulations and post-incident reviews to build your understanding of reliability best practices.
  • Support efforts to promote SRE principles across engineering teams and foster a culture of learning and shared responsibility.

What You Bring to the Table

You’re a recent graduate with a passion for learning and a curiosity for how large-scale systems work. You’re excited to grow as a software developer, solve meaningful problems, and build your career in a collaborative environment.

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience through internships, co-ops, or personal projects).
  • Exposure to at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, or Golang.
  • Interest in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and container technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic understanding of CI/CD workflows.
  • An eagerness to learn about observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus) and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • A growth mindset, adaptability, and a desire to continuously improve your technical and professional skills.
