Job description

We are currently seeking a Software Developer, Defensive Security to join our engineering team.

This role is available to candidates across Canada, excluding Quebec. If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto) then you will be expected to be in office twice per week on days of your choice. If you are not local to our hubs, then you may work remotely across Canada, but our offices are open to you if you would like to visit.

What your team does:

We are on a mission to transform the legal experience for all, and our engineering team’s goal is to deliver an incredible experience to our customers. To enable our engineers to build the best product they can, our development team has to build the best possible product that is performant, reliable, scalable, and beautiful.

You will be part of a 20-person Security portfolio that is split into Application Security, Security Engineering, and Compliance teams. Your team sits within Application Security and you will be with 4 other engineers, so you can enjoy the benefits of a close-knit team while also learning and growing with our community of over 400 engineers.

Currently, we don't have a mandatory on-call schedule as our on-call is voluntary and we have enough interest to fill the schedule. However, this can change in the future if there is more need.

What you'll do:

Bring strong .NET development experience to the Application Security team

Provide detailed guidance and support to teams in vulnerability remediation along with remediating vulnerabilities in core codebases

Develop and implement tools to help educate, reduce toil, and prevent security flaws

Build partnerships with development teams and advise on security best practices

Contribute to growing security awareness and knowledge amongst the product organization

Identify and implement tools for automated application scanning, static analysis, and custom tooling

Perform incident response when a security event occurs

Elevate and educate our security culture within Clio, contributing to our cultural values of “Lead with Context” and “Get Better Every Day”

What you may have:

A love for learning and developing creative security solutions for a fast growing, continuous integration environment that hits upwards of 50 deployments a day

Experience in some combination of the following disciplines: secure software development, architecture review, web application security, security tools development, cloud security, and/or threat modelling

Experience in modern .NET technologies
