Job description

About BinSentry:

BinSentry is an extremely fast-growing ag-tech company started here in KW. BinSentry is focused on providing solutions for the agriculture supply chain that help increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance profitability. As a leader in the use of artificial intelligence, BinSentry offers technology solutions that pair best-in-class optical sensors with user-friendly software to provide our customers with enhanced forecasting and decision‑making capabilities.

With our technology, feed mills and protein producers are enhancing feed ordering efficiency, raising healthier animals, improving employee safety, reducing their environmental footprint and - most significantly - uncovering new savings. Today, BinSentry is monitoring more than 70,000 bins in real time across North America. When it comes to the future of agricultural supply chain management, BinSentry is leading the way. For more information visit www.binsentry.com.

We are currently looking for talented Software Developers who will be instrumental in building software that is changing the face of the feed industry. This is a new vacancy due to growing business needs.

Job Summary:

As BinSentry's Critical Systems Software Developer, you'll solve interesting, real-world problems and own the solutions from start to finish. Our team is handed problems, not finished specs. Working closely with product and design, we figure out the right approach together, and you'll have real ownership over the solutions you build.

You’ll help power BinSentry through enormous growth by building and scaling the systems our business runs on, and keeping them reliable and correct along the way. These include inventory and financial workflows, factory and refurbishment tooling, and device infrastructure. All of your customers are internal teams who care about efficiency, quality and ease of use. They give fast, honest feedback, so you can iterate quickly and see your work make a difference.

The work is both collaborative and independent. Our environment is dynamic, with plenty of room to improve processes and learn new skills.

Job Duties

  • Work with your teammates to turn business problems into software, then design, build, test, review and ship it.

  • Own the reliability, performance and correctness of critical systems, including ERP, billing, work orders, inventory and core APIs.

  • Scale these systems as the company grows, with solid monitoring, alerting and capacity planning.

  • Make changes safely: plan migrations, roll out in stages, and protect the integrity of financial and inventory data.

  • Partner with Finance, Operations and Manufacturing, and support them when issues come up, including during month-end close.

  • Pay down technical debt and recommend improvements to our architecture and development process.

  • Keep documentation and runbooks current, and share knowledge so no system depends on one person.

  • Keep projects on schedule and keep stakeholders informed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency in JavaScript (Node.js) and Python

  • Strong testing habits, especially for changes that touch financial or inventory data

  • Focus on long-term maintainability and scalable design

  • Detail-oriented, with a business-process mindset: you understand how system behaviour affects the teams that rely on it

  • Proactive problem solver who learns quickly and adapts in a fast-paced environment

  • Good at prioritizing, estimating realistically and managing your time

  • Strong communicator and team player

Nice To Have

  • AWS (DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS, Serverless)

  • PostgreSQL and relational data modelling

  • Running production systems: observability tools (e.g. Sentry, CloudWatch), live debugging and incident handling

  • Odoo or other ERP experience

  • Accounting and inventory concepts (valuation, reconciliation)

Benefits

  • Company-paid group health and dental benefits plus your choice of an annual HSA or PSA

  • Competitive compensation and an equity package

  • Awesome company events

  • Be a part of a team of talented and friendly senior-level developers.
