Job summary

Siemens EDA in Saskatoon is seeking talented software developers at all levels to join our R&D site. You will work on AI-driven design tools and collaborate with world-class engineers to advance semiconductor CAD software.

You will contribute in C++, Linux, and GUI development, prototype AI features, and partner with major customers. This on-site role offers growth through mentoring, code reviews, and a path to impact across Solido product lines.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to effectively develop high-quality software in a collaborative environment (school or work).
  • Expertise in object-oriented programming (C++), Linux, testing, source control (Git), debugging, profiling, GUI design (Qt).
  • Familiarity with memory optimization, high-performance data structures and algorithms, and multithreaded programming.
  • Recent graduates within 5 years with GPA of at least 75%.
  • Experience with generative AI, agentic AI, circuit layout, layout optimization, or interfacing with large language models.

Responsibilities

  • Use C++ to develop software addressing challenging problems and evolve EDA products.
  • Collaborate with technology experts at major semiconductor companies to define and deliver features.
  • Prototype generative and agentic AI features across Siemens EDA.

We are looking for talented software developers at all levels to join our technical team at the Saskatoon research & development site of Siemens EDA.

At Siemens EDA in Saskatoon, we develop advanced semiconductor design software for the world's top chip design and manufacturing companies. The Siemens EDA Solido team in Saskatoon, Canada develops 5 product lines, all aimed at revolutionizing parts of the chip design process:

  • Solido Design Environment: World's leading variation and optimization solution for custom IC design
  • Solido Characterization Suite: AI accelerated timing characterization and verification tools
  • Solido IP Validation Suite: Comprehensive rule-based checking system that verifies across all design views
  • Fuse: Generative and agentic AI system that powers all of chip and PCB design

Responsibilities
  • Use C++ to develop software that addresses some of the world's most challenging problems. Work with an outstanding technical team, here in Saskatoon and around the world, to ensure our leading electronic design automation products evolve to meet the changing expectations of our customers.
  • Collaborate directly with technology experts at major semiconductor companies to define, develop, and deliver new products and product features.
  • Prototyping leading edge generative and agentic AI features and concepts across Siemens EDA.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively develop high-quality software in a collaborative environment (school or work).
  • Demonstrated expertise in some or all the following: object-oriented programming (C++), Linux, testing, source control (Git), debugging, profiling, GUI design (Qt),memory optimization, high-performance data structures and algorithms, multithreaded programming.
  • If you have graduated in the past 5 years, or will graduate soon, we require a GPA of at least 75%.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness with one or more of the following: generative AI, agentic AI, circuit layout, layout optimization, interfacing with large language models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated through software documentation (commit messages, docstrings, etc), collecting customer requirements, and communicating with team members.
  • A team player; an ability to provide and be receptive of constructive feedback (through code reviews, design iteration, and the verification process); mentor and teach others on the team.
  • Customer-focused; can prioritize tasks based on customer experience and ROI.
  • Willingness to learn and interested in new challenges.
  • Nice-to-have expertise: Statistics (Monte Carlo analysis), test automation, transistor-level circuit design, EDA CAD tools, SQL, numerical analysis, machine learning, operating systems, compiler design & computer architecture, and release management.
  • Must be available to work from our Saskatoon facility.
