Job description
Software Engineer, Build & Tools - Contract

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and maintain software application build and release pipelines and processes to deliver software across a variety of platforms, including PlayStation consoles, Web, Mobile, and PC
  • Automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools to ensure scalable, repeatable, and secure deployments across various environments
  • Build applications and tools that streamline application development and deployment processes
  • Facilitate the needs of dependent teams (engineering, QA, and operations) and work with external teams to achieve results
  • Monitor and measure software telemetry data (metrics, logs, traces) to identify gaps and prioritize improvements within our pipelines and tools
  • Build dashboards to visualize metrics and communicate the health and performance of our systems
  • Proactively diagnose and resolve CI/CD issues, as well as issues reported by development teams
  • Write documentation (Tutorials, How-to guides, Reference guides, Explanations) for our pipelines, infrastructure and tools
  • Collaborate with team members, globally, across all SIE offices, to effectively build and deliver PlayStation software experiences
  • Work with diverse web technology stacks

Minimum Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of object-oriented principles
  • Familiarity with common data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with Git, GitHub
  • Experience with JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Familiar with common web tooling and frameworks
  • Familiar with container technologies such as Docker
  • Familiar with Akamai and Content Delivery Networks
  • Understanding of "Phased Releases" and how it applies to CDN's
  • Comfortable navigating the Linux command line

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working with RESTful web APIs Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Strong understanding of Content Delivery Networks, particularly using Akamai
  • Understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Familiar with telemetry related technologies (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Cloudwatch, etc.)
  • Experience with AWS (EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, etc.)
  • Familiar with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery / Deployment (CI/CD)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
