Senior Developer – Fixed Income Trading

Position Title: Senior Developer – Fixed Income Trading

Line of Business: Fixed Income

Duration: 6 months (Possibility of Extension)

Location: GTA-based – Currently 100% remote, but candidates must be able to attend occasional in-office meetings/events at Toronto

Role Mandate: We aspire to build a best-in‑class platform for our Fixed Income trading desk, covering a wide spectrum of Investment Grade and High Yield bonds to serve the growing needs of our clients globally. Our vision is to create an industry‑leading fixed income trading platform using modern software development principles to ensure adaptability, future growth, and integration with external systems and proprietary pricing/risk tools.

We are seeking a Senior Developer with extensive experience in building complex software solutions. This role involves close collaboration with developers, business analysts, product managers, and production support teams to execute both short-term tactical and long-term strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and innovative ideas for development design and integration with other components.
• Adapt design and functionality quickly based on frequent feedback from traders and stakeholders.
• Build strong partnerships with team members and stakeholders to foster a productive work environment.
• Create high-quality documentation artifacts (solution diagrams, trade flows, current vs. target state).
• Maintain current trading systems, implement enhancements, and provide production support.
• Perform unit testing of deliverables and participate in planning and execution of test suites.
• Collaborate to advance IT capabilities in real‑time messaging, application integration, and high availability.

Must‑Have Skills

• 7+ years of experience developing complex software solutions for large, geographically dispersed organizations.
• Strong Agile practitioner, capable of iterating rapidly from concept to final solution.
• Expertise in high‑performance systems with real‑time streaming, data updates, and integration with internal/external services (TCP, HTTP, MQ, FIX).
• FIX protocol experience is mandatory.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, C++, and Oracle database.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Git, Linux/Windows servers, and Shell scripting.
• Background in Capital Markets – Fixed Income, Credit Trading, Rates (preferred).
• Familiarity with large trading platforms (Bloomberg TOMS, FIS BondOne, Calypso, WSS) is an asset.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders.
