Software Developer (Contract) — Build FarmTech SaaS from the Ground Up

AG Business Advisory is a Canadian agribusiness consulting firm with deep roots in farm finance, operations, and strategy. We help farm businesses identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and plan for long-term legacy. With an entrepreneurial approach and big ambitions, we are now expanding into digital tools and SaaS solutions that will reshape how farms manage their businesses and unlock financial opportunities.

We’re hiring a Software Developer (Contract) to build our first wave of SaaS tools and MVPs, from zero to launch, directly with the founder.

The Opportunity

You will be the first developer shaping AG's product direction while focusing on hands-on development. Expect short feedback cycles, rapid iteration, and visible impact across both client-facing applications and internal productivity tools.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and ship production-ready SaaS features and MVPs from scratch
• Collaborate with the founder on product vision while owning implementation details
• Develop across the stack (front end, back end, APIs, databases)
• Create lightweight tests, basic CI, and deploy reliable builds
• Add basic analytics/telemetry to validate product decisions
• Document and keep your code maintainable for future growth

What We’re Looking For

• Early-career to mid-level developer who has shipped working software (portfolio, demos, or GitHub)
• Comfortable with full-stack work
• Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and comfortable with ambiguity and iteration
• Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs and decisions
• Bonus: experience in startups, SaaS, or integrations

Details

• Engagement: Fixed-term contract or flexible contractor (independent contractor)
• Location: Remote within Canada. Occasional in-office collaboration at AGBA’s office in Nova Scotia is welcome but not required
• Compensation: CAD $25–40 per hour depending on experience, plus performance bonuses tied to milestones and product outcomes.
• This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer to gain full ownership experience, build a portfolio of SaaS products, and grow into more advanced roles as the suite expands
• Time commitment: Flexible; milestones scoped collaboratively and adjusted as needed
