Software Architect, AEC Data

Position Overview

Autodesk's Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Platform Data organization is seeking an experienced Software Architect to join its Information Lifecycle team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building the systems and services that power the Information Lifecycle products and their integration with Autodesk's existing and future AEC products. This opportunity is ideal if you are passionate about designing complex systems architectures and transforming how AEC professionals use data to make informed decisions and deliver projects.

As a Software Architect on the Information Lifecycle team, you will lead the design of the next generation of Information Lifecycle capabilities for Autodesk Forma Industry Cloud. You will collaborate with software architects across the AEC Platform Data organization and with architects from leading applications like Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Forma. Your role involves defining software architecture that facilitates continuous data flow throughout the lifecycle of a built asset, from design and construction to operation and maintenance.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Software Development for the Platform Data, Information Lifecycle team.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze data requirements for Autodesk's Information Lifecycle infrastructure.
• Collaborate with platform data architects to shape system components, relationships, and guiding principles.
• Design, document, and support implementation of complex system architectures, including databases and processing systems, defining data services, APIs, data models, and event streams.
• Work with other architects and disciplines to develop strategic solutions and specify system interactions with Autodesk's AEC products.
• Create reliable technology by ensuring application performance, quality, and responsiveness.
• Communicate architectural designs effectively using views and diagrams.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of architectural patterns and technologies.
• Collaborate across Autodesk to understand technological challenges and promote innovative solutions.
• Lead efforts in reusing platform capabilities and contributing to Autodesk's platform ecosystem.
• Present technical topics to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; master's preferred.
• 10+ years of experience as a Software or Systems Architect in data-intensive cloud environments.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS preferred), database architecture, big data tools, and frameworks.
• Strong understanding of data management and processing principles.
• Excellent software and application architecture skills.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in stakeholder presentations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a global team and willingness to travel 5-10 times per year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the AEC industry or related sectors.
