Job summary

BMO Financial Group in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Software Application Developer for the Loan Servicing Technology team to design, develop, and support enterprise-scale lending applications.

You will contribute to Loan IQ modernization, API/microservices, and AI-assisted development while collaborating with Business Analysts, Operations, QA, Architecture, and DevOps to deliver secure, scalable solutions that meet regulatory and governance standards.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of software development in enterprise environments.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot development experience.
• Experience with REST APIs, Microservices, and Application Integration.
• Strong Oracle SQL and relational database experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Agile delivery, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, or similar container platforms.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or equivalent.
• Understanding of Generative AI concepts, prompt engineering, and AI-enabled software development practices.
• Knowledge of Responsible AI principles including security, privacy, governance, and risk management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Summary

BMO's B2B Banking & Credit Technology team is seeking a Software Application Developer to join the Loan Servicing Technology team supporting Loan IQ and related lending platforms. The role is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications that enable commercial lending and loan servicing operations.

The successful candidate will contribute to strategic technology initiatives including Loan IQ modernization, API and microservices development, workflow automation, cloud adoption, intelligent document processing, and AI-enabled solutions. This position combines strong software engineering capabilities with modern AI-assisted development practices to improve delivery efficiency, solution quality, and operational effectiveness.

• Experience with workflow automation, intelligent document processing, or AI-enabled business solutions.
• Python development experience.
• Exposure to LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or AI orchestration frameworks.

Salary: $55,500.00 - $120,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
