Job summary
Intact Financial Corporation is seeking a highly skilled software engineer to join its Innovation Lab. You will design and evolve microservices, APIs and libraries that run production algorithms, while contributing to platform-wide standards for performance and resilience.
You will optimize systems for speed and scale, mentor team members, and collaborate on DevOps tooling using Docker, Kubernetes, Flask and Spring Boot within a hybrid work model.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or software engineering with minimum 5 years of enterprise software development experience.
- Proficient in Python and familiar with Java and Bash.
- Strong understanding of ML concepts and algorithms; experience with Scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Flask and Spring Boot.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and evolve microservices, APIs and reusable libraries for production algorithms.
- Establish development standards for efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.
- Optimize platform for velocity and scalability; prioritize tasks with the team.
- Help testers set up component and integration tests; ensure high quality.
- Mentor squad members and lead technical initiatives.
- Collaborate on DevOps tooling (Gitlab, Grafana, ELK, Jenkins).

Salary range (but not limited to):
118,700 - 145,100
Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
- Participate in the design, development and evolution of microservices, APIs and reusable libraries for the execution of our algorithms in mission critical production environments.
- Participate in the technological watch and definition of development standards to ensure system efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.
- Optimize the platform for maximum velocity and scalability.
- Optimize and prioritize development tasks in collaboration with the team.
- Help our testers in setting up component and integration tests.
- Ensure the high level of quality of the work delivered.
- Strengthen the development team productivity.
- Oversee the development of appropriate tactics to achieve objectives.
- Support and be proactively involved in problem situations or issues.
- Play a Technical Leader / Mentor role for Squad members.
- Bachelor’s in computer engineering, computer science or software engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of significant experience in development of enterprise grade software solutions
- Proficient in python language and a good understanding of programming languages such as Java and Bash
- Good understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithm design techniques
- Experienced with machine learning libraries and scientific calculation such as Scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, etc.
- Experienced with software engineering life cycle and agile methodologies.
- Experienced in developing complex services based on Docker, Kubernetes, Flask and Spring Boot
- Experienced with modern DevOps tools such as Gitlab, Grafana, ELK stack, Jenkins
- Working knowledge of streaming and batch processing systems such as Kafka.
- Familiarity with machine learning and data processing frameworks such as XGBoost, Tensorflow or Spark.
- Familiarity with data storage and warehousing technologies such as Snowflake, MongoDB, S3.
- Familiarity with AWS technologies such as Kinesis, Lambda and CloudWatch is a plus.
