Role Description

The Softgoods Sales Associate is a part-time, on-site role based in Vancouver, BC. In this position, the associate assists customers in selecting apparel and softgoods (such as clothing, accessories, and related gear), providing product knowledge and personalized recommendations. Day-to-day responsibilities include greeting customers, identifying their needs, maintaining merchandise displays, and ensuring the sales floor is clean, organized, and well-stocked. The role also involves processing transactions at the point of sale, handling exchanges and returns, and supporting inventory activities such as receiving, tagging, and restocking products. Softgoods Sales Associates work collaboratively with colleagues to meet sales goals, deliver excellent customer service, and promote Sporting Life’s brand values.

Qualifications

• Customer service and retail sales skills, including the ability to engage customers, understand their needs, and recommend appropriate apparel and softgoods.
• Product knowledge and interest in fashion, sports, and active lifestyle gear, with the ability to learn features, fits, and benefits quickly.
• Communication and interpersonal skills, including clear verbal communication, active listening, and a professional, inclusive approach with diverse customers and team members.
• Organization and attention to detail skills for merchandising, inventory handling, and maintaining a clean, visually appealing sales floor.
• Basic point-of-sale and cash handling skills, with comfort using retail systems and following established policies and procedures.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move merchandise safely, and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Previous retail or customer-facing experience in apparel, sports, or lifestyle products is an asset but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; a strong interest in active, outdoor, or fitness-oriented lifestyles is beneficial.
