Position Summary

The Social Worker provides a range of assessments, consultation, and tiered intervention programs and services, including psychotherapy and referrals to external partners and agencies for school students; collaborates with student services and school teams and provides ongoing consultation and capacity building as part of collaborative multidisciplinary student services team to improve mental wellness and academic engagement.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Completion of master's degree in social work (MSW)
  • Registration in good standing in College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers of Ontario (OCSWSSW)
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience working directly with child, youth, and families
  • Strong analytical, assessment and intervention skills are required
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to solve school adjustment, social-emotional and behavioral problems related to mental health of students
  • Training and experience in Cognitive and/or Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an asset
  • Understand and practice in accordance with federal, provincial, and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families, such as, child protection, special education, attendance, education rights and confidentiality
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle in order to travel and provide service throughout the district
  • Awareness of a tiered approach to mental health supports for children and youth
  • Knowledge of community resources
