Job description

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Education Department is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year to fill the following Full-Time Term position based out of Sally Ross School in Hall Lake, SK .

SOCIAL WORKER

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties :

  • Develop, implement, and maintain social and emotional counselling programs for students;
  • Provide counselling services to students to support their academic success;
  • Offer students and parents information on school policies, procedures, local agencies, and services;
  • Monitor and maintain student attendance, including arranging home visits and phone calls to parents;
  • Maintain student files confidentially and professionally;
  • Communicate effectively with school staff;
  • Maintain positive public relations on behalf of the LLRIB.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications :

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field;
  • Previous experience in a school setting is required;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong discretion and professionalism;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Key skills : planning, problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, and counselling;
  • Demonstrated communication (written and verbal), public relations, computer, and organizational skills;
  • Valid Saskatchewan Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Must provide a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, Criminal Record Check / Vulnerable Sector Screening.
