Education & Experience
  • Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW).
  • Master of Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work and one year of post-Bachelor of Social Work experience in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of systems thinking related to social work processes.
  • Knowledge of other health disciplines and their roles in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of research methodology.
  • Knowledge of counselling skills and clinical practice models.
  • Knowledge of family, group, and change therapy.
  • Understanding of legislation and government policies relevant to clients.
  • Ability to apply systems theory in social work assessment and intervention.
  • Ability to conduct social and psychosocial assessments.
  • Ability to understand and influence group and inter-group processes, decision-making, and problem solving.
  • Ability to establish rapport with clients and families to explore issues beyond initial concerns.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Adaptability to new or unexpected events.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in using equipment and software applications relevant to the role.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Applicants with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. If applying under equivalency, clearly outline how your knowledge, education, skills, and experience meet the MSW criteria.

The hours, work area, and days off may change based on operational needs. Successful applicants may need to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all healthcare workers in publicly funded facilities must report past receipt of certain vaccines or infections. You will be asked to provide this information during onboarding.
