Position Overview

This role involves conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, providing evidence-based clinical interventions, supporting families through education and crisis intervention, and collaborating with community agencies to ensure holistic care for children and youth with mental health and substance use concerns. The position requires attention to detail, self-direction, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct mental health, substance use, and family assessments following professional standards.
  2. Provide individual, family, and group therapy based on evidence-based practices.
  3. Support families with education, short-term counseling, and crisis management during health-related transitions.
  4. Coordinate discharge planning with multidisciplinary teams and community resources.
  5. Maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and community agencies to facilitate seamless care.
  6. Participate in program planning and development within the interprofessional team.
  7. Engage in system improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and resource utilization.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution, including relevant clinical coursework and practicum.
  • Minimum of one year recent clinical experience in child, youth, or women's mental health and substance use settings, including experience with child protection, development, and trauma.
  • Current registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of systemic racism and colonialism on Indigenous Peoples, with a commitment to anti-racism and cultural safety.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and commitments such as TRC, UNDRIP, BC's Declaration Act, and related policies.
Core Competencies
  • Leadership in addressing Indigenous-specific racism and systemic barriers.
  • Ability to foster trust and cultural safety in clinical practice.
Additional Skills
  • Expertise in psychosocial assessment and therapy techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and with diverse populations.
Benefits and Employment Details
  • Full-time, regular position with wages from $42.27 to $52.81/hour.
  • Location: 4500 Oak Street, Vancouver, BC.
  • Rotating hours: 0900-2100, as per operational needs.
