We currently have an exciting opportuni ty for a Full Time Registered Social Worker, MSW to join our Chemical Dependency Program . This program provides service to patients with complex concurrent disorder where their addictions condition requires care and treatment alongside other chronic co-morbidities (mental health, medical problems, etc.). Staff are responsible to complete assessments, develop treatment plans, provide interventions based on recovery, relapse prevention, and safety and stabilization principles. Staff in this role deliver psychoeducation, counselling and psychotherapy both individually and via groups.

Duration (if contract): NA

Hours of Work: Day shifts – Monday to Friday (except Tuesday) ; Tuesdays will be a 12-8pm shift . ( Subject to change per management rights )

Location: Wilson Site – Cross Site Coverage may be required – Must be willing to work on all Mental Health and Addictions Units

Reporting Relationship: Manager, Mental Health and Addictions

Hourly Rate: $44.67 - $57.90

This posting is for 2 permanent Full Time position (2025-21930, and 2025-21931).

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, treatment and discharge planning for patients in the Chemical Dependency Program .
  • Provides individual and group counselling and psychotherapy, crisis management, psycho-education , connection to community-based resources for patients and/or their families.
  • Works in collaboration and consultation with our medical staff, and other members of the inter-professional health care team to meet the needs of our outpatients
  • Facilitates strong working relationships and acts as a resource within our internal Mental Health and Addictions programs, other areas of the HRH, as well as with our community partners.
  • Collaborate with the Physician Leader, Manager, Clinical Practice Leader and other stakeholders in the development of new programs for patients and families.
  • Assists with coverage in all MH & A programs as required

Qualifications

  • MSW obtained from an accredited School of Social Work.
  • Current membership with OASW and OCSWSSW.
  • Two (2) years’ experiences in mental health and/or addiction facility or setting required.
  • Level 1 CBT training completed or in progress or demonstrated experience with these skills. CBT level 2 is an asset.
  • Demonstrated skills in individual and group counselling, psychoeducation and psychotherapy.
  • Certification in the prevention and management of aggressive behaviour is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying motivational interviewing skills is required.
  • Training in DBT is required (or demonstrated experience with these skills).
  • Training in additional modalities such as EFT, IFS, BSFT, CPT, narrative therapy, CBT-I, CBT-P are an asset.
  • Understanding of and experience in Trauma Informed Care is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, training and experience with managing and caring for the patient with polysubstance use and/or concurrent disorders is required.
  • Excellent assessment skills using a bio-psycho-social model required for addictions and concurrent disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in identifying a patient in withdrawal.
  • Knowledge of addictions specific community-based treatment programs and resources is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as a part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast paced/changing environment.
  • Ability to respond rapidly and decisively to crisis situations.
  • Demonstrates cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Good word processing skills including electronic medical record, MS Office required.
  • Experience, familiarity and comfort, with technology-assisted healthcare delivery, specifically video conferencing using various platforms and devices preferred.
  • Excellent attendance and a discipline free record is required.
