Position Overview

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Social Work, the successful candidate will support the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Clinic within the Division of Neurology. This role involves psychosocial assessments, developing intervention plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team to support children with neurological conditions and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy, crisis intervention, and case management.
  • Assess family needs, strengths, and concerns; develop and implement plans to improve coping, adherence, and quality of life.
  • Support families through hospital experiences and connect them with community resources.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and participate in research activities.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work with 5+ years of experience.
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
  • Experience with neurodiverse populations and mental health conditions.
  • Strong assessment and intervention skills in child and adult mental health.
  • Knowledge of community resources, health care systems, and social work practices in clinical settings.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • 0.4FTE (2 days / week), 11-month contract.
