About The Royal
As one of Canada’s foremost mental health care and academic health science centres, The Royal aims to help people with mental illness recover faster. Our work transforms lives through specialized mental healthcare, advocacy, research, and education. The OSI Clinic provides mental health assessment and treatment to clients referred by Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), RCMP, and DND, experiencing work-related psychological stress and trauma. The team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse clinicians, and social workers. As a social worker, you will deliver mental health treatment services to Veterans and their families.
Duties
- Provide direct support, therapeutic interventions, education, and counseling to veterans, couples, and families.
- Conduct timely and comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments.
- Develop and facilitate groups at the clinic and outreach locations.
- Work effectively as part of an interprofessional team.
- Liaise with community agencies and service providers.
- Participate in academic activities, including teaching, supervision, meetings, and maintaining registration requirements.
- Maintain workload measurement and data collection (e.g., CROMIS).
- Provide education to stakeholders, such as VAC District offices.
- Design individualized treatment plans with the team.
- Coordinate care among service providers.
- Communicate with VAC counselors, RCMP, and DND for treatment planning and referrals.
- Write discharge reports with follow-up recommendations.
- Utilize tele mental health and distance technologies.
- Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
- Follow the leadership of the National Centre for Operational Stress Injuries.
- Design program evaluations and satisfaction surveys.
- Participate in research and committees.
- Adhere to safety policies and promote a harassment-free environment.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health services.
- Training in evidence-based therapies for PTSD, depression, anxiety, including PE, CPT, EMDR, CBT, BA, MBSR.
- Knowledge of mental health best practices, community services, and crisis response.
- Experience in an interprofessional service delivery model.
- Experience working with police, veterans, or Canadian Forces members with operational stress injuries.
- Experience with families and couples.
- Training in EFT is an asset.
- Experience in group work.
- Sensitivity to military and police mental health needs.
- Proficiency with electronic health records.
- Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Commitment to quality improvement and teamwork.
- Mentoring and supervision skills.
- Experience with telemedicine services.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- English at level A- (mandatory); bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
Salary Range: $44.67 to $57.90 per hour
