A healthcare organization in Peace River is seeking a Social Worker II to coordinate the Clubhouse Program. The candidate will provide psychosocial assessment, treatment, and case management services to individuals with mental illness. As a member of Recovery Alberta: Mental Health and Addiction community clinic, the primary responsibility of this Social Worker II position is to coordinate the Clubhouse Program working alongside the board and members to deliver programming reflective of international Clubhouse standards. Clubhouse is a rehabilitative, member-driven community where we foster growth, hope and recovery for adults with a mental illness. The program is based on the International Centre for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) clubhouse model of psychosocial rehabilitation and support recovery from a mental illness by helping people re-establish normal roles in the community and their reintegration into community life. Clubhouse addresses isolation and quality of life issues, links program members to local community programs and activities, and works with the local community to improve their understanding of mental illness. Essential to the effectiveness of the program is the involvement of consumers (members) in all aspects of service planning, operation, evaluation and decision making. The incumbent reports to a community board as well as a supervisor within Mental Health and Addiction Services. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provide a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
Required: Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required: First Aid, (BLS) Basic Life Support. NOTE: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Recovery Alberta currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Preferred: Use of Microsoft tools, Psychosocial Rehabilitation. Experience in health care or settings with transferable experiences. Knowledge and experience working with diverse and marginalized populations using an inclusive lens of equity & diversity. Knowledge and application of trauma informed care and harm reduction. Understanding of the impact of severe mental illness and stigma. Previous experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness is an asset.
