Recovery Alberta in Medicine Hat is seeking a Casual Social Worker II to deliver psychosocial services and support to patients and families. You will perform psychosocial assessments, coordinate services, and assist with transitioning or discharging clients.
The role involves crisis de-escalation, advocacy, and collaboration with an inter-disciplinary team to connect clients with housing, IDs, medication coverage, and other essential supports within the province.
As a casual Social Worker II, you will be involved in a wide range of Social Work duties to enhance clients’ timely access to services. A flexible and adaptable workload will consist of a wide variety of tasks, including, Walk-in/crisis support, screening sessions, systems navigation, emotional support/check-in sessions, group facilitation, limited community outreach, and psycho-social support plans to support attached clients of the Adult Mental Health & Addiction Community Services Team. The ideal candidate for this position would demonstrate strong critical decision-making skills, consulting regularly with the Clinical Supervisor to ensure careful implementation of appropriate intervention. This role is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues while independently implementing agreed upon psycho-social support tasks.The Social Worker II also oversees our clinic’s Resource Library, ensuring availability of up-to-date resources within our community and province. This position is also readily available to providing additional guidance to complete necessary applications, paperwork, or referrals to internal and external programs to best meet clients’ needs revolving around basic needs, including: housing, food, ID, medication coverage, transportation, Alberta Supports/ADAP/AISH, immigration supports, clothing, and financial management and liaising with community agencies/programs.
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work.Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Experienced in the provision of case management, screening, and systems navigation with strong clinical discernment and supportive counselling skills. Experienced in working with clients and their families who may be experiencing crises. Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills are required in conjunction with a demonstrated knowledge of community resources and the ability to work collaboratively with community partners. Strong, self-motivated professional, who is capable of critical thinking, prioritizing/triaging, using crisis de-escalation skills, and willing to creatively problem solve to support the needs of vulnerable clients.
Proficiency using Connect Care and proficiency with Work Queues.Master's degree in social work.Current NVCI training / certificate.
