Days of Work: Monday to Friday (varies as needed)

Shift times: 08:30 to 16:30

About The Position

Casual shifts are available five days a week, on an as needed basis. Orientation will be with Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital acute care (i.e. ER, ICU, Medical, Surgical, Pediatrics, Psychiatry).

Social workers have a vital role in supporting patients and families through complex health and life challenges. You’ll provide psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, counselling, and advocacy to help individuals navigate illness, hospitalization, and recovery. Working as part of interdisciplinary teams, Interior Health Social Workers collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to develop patient‑centred care plans that address both medical and social needs. You’ll assist with discharge planning, connecting patients to community resources, housing supports, financial assistance programs, and home care services to promote safe transitions from hospital to home. Through compassionate, culturally safe, and client‑centred practice, you’ll help improve health outcomes and quality of life for the diverse populations served throughout the Trail area.
