Shkaabe Makwa is a Centre for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Wellness at CAMH that supports culturally relevant initiatives to achieve health equity and community wellness in collaboration with Indigenous communities and service providers across Ontario. It aims to transform health outcomes by integrating traditional knowledge with medical expertise through evidence-based, trauma-informed practices.
Shkaabe Makwa is seeking a First Nations, Inuit, or Métis person for a full-time, permanent position as a Social Worker 2. Reporting to the Manager of Workforce Development, this role involves designing, developing, and maintaining training materials, facilitating training on mental health, harm reduction, substance use, and related community needs.
The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external partners to develop high-quality training curriculums informed by community knowledge and culture-based practices. Responsibilities include creating online content such as websites, webinars, blogs, and managing the Learning Management System. The position is based at 1001 Queen Street West with regular travel throughout Ontario, including remote First Nations communities.
Qualifications include a Master's Degree in Social Work, registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and at least three years of clinical experience in mental health, substance use, or concurrent disorders. The candidate should have experience in delivering effective training, understanding Indigenous engagement principles, and working with interdisciplinary teams. Knowledge of health and social services legislation, research analysis, adult learning principles, and online education delivery is essential. Bilingualism in French/English or an Indigenous language is an asset.
