As a Social Work Unit Educator with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
- Work in a team-based environment and provide discipline specific clinical support, training, and education to designated staff for the designated program area.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate site educational programs to support access and flow and meet the needs of the clinicians and site.
- Provide training and at-the-elbow support; educate on applicable legislation and its application, therapeutic approaches, and discharge planning processes.
- As a Designated Responder Coordinator, provide clinical support, guidance, direction, and education, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations per the Adult Guardianship Act.
- Work under the direction of the Manager and/or Clinical Operations Supervisor to set the priorities of the designated program.
- Collaborate with the Regional Clinical Education team, Regional Educator for Social Work, and other educators across VCH to ensure alignment of best practices for educational theory.
- Maintain and update knowledge of clinical and professional practice by working directly with patients, clients, and residents.
About the Recovery Response Team:
The Recovery Response Team (RRT) is an interdisciplinary substance use transition team that provides low-barrier access to recovery-based supports for clients accessing care within Specialized Substance Use Services.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, with five (5) years' recent, related social work experience in the designated practice area.
- Completion of a professional instructional program for teaching, with experience creating educational materials and mentoring students, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Social Work theory and practice within a client and family-centred model of care.
- Broad knowledge of established provincial standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
- Extensive knowledge of legislation and government policies as it relates to patient rights and staff obligations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients, and outside agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
- Computer literacy related to tele-health and technology-based learning.

Applicants with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from an accredited School of Social Work, and a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
