Job Description
Position Purpose summary:
This position is part of a collaborative management team and provides day-to-day supervision of program staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality, and customer service excellence to meet the needs of shelter and CRF clients in a housing-focused holistic manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Salary: $31.55 per hour.

Accountabilities

  • Oversee all aspects of program operations in accordance with the mission and values of The Salvation Army and the Brantford Booth Centre.
  • Oversee and direct planning, organization, and implementation of case management plans.
  • Assist ED in screening CFC (Corrections) client cases in preparation for CFC meetings.
  • Liaise with community resources and encourage community involvement in programs, partnerships, and development.
  • Support frontline staff in planning, implementation, and ongoing direction of all program areas involving clients.
  • Understand the psychological and social dynamics of working with individuals with diverse needs.
  • Ensure all programming includes a spiritual component.
  • Maintain organized and timely documentation and records, including shift reports, intake, evaluations, incident reports, statistics, and staff hours.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with participants and act as a role model to promote positive communication.
  • Ensure security and maintenance of the property, coordinating repairs and external contractors as needed.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, grant applications, and evaluations as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records and data.
  • Develop and revise policies, protocols, and operating procedures in compliance with standards.
  • Contribute to departmental budget planning.

Human Resources

  • Hire, orient, train, evaluate, reward, discipline, and terminate staff in consultation with the ED, following standards.
  • Schedule staff and maintain employee files securely.
  • Update job descriptions and identify training needs.
  • Conduct supervision and performance reviews.
  • Handle payroll functions and facilitate team meetings.

Health and Safety

  • Monitor safety practices, prepare incident reports, and provide calming interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and develop policies.
  • Manage workplace injury and illness procedures, including incident investigations.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Support the Mission of The Salvation Army and maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate as a team member, in performance appraisals, and in professional development.
  • Represent the organization professionally and adhere to policies and safety procedures.

Other Duties

  • Develop internal and external relationships, including with community partners and suppliers.
  • Report to the Director of Programs and supervise program staff.
  • Participate in budgeting and handle petty cash if needed.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Services, Social Work, or equivalent.
  • At least two years of relevant experience, including supervision and working with marginalized populations.
  • Current First Aid & CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance, with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • Knowledge of issues facing homeless individuals and experience with case management and community resources.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with proficiency in Word and Excel.

Compensation
