Social Media & Marketing Specialist (Maternity Leave Contract – 18 Months)

About the Position

We are currently seeking a creative and detail-oriented Social Media & Marketing Specialist to join our team on a full-time maternity leave contract for up to 18 months. This role is responsible for developing and executing engaging social media content, supporting marketing campaigns, and enhancing brand visibility across multiple platforms.

Contract Details:

This is a maternity leave contract position with a duration of 12 months initially, with the potential to be extended on a month-to-month basis from months 13 to 18, depending on organizational needs.

The ideal candidate has a passion for digital marketing, strong communication skills, and a keen eye for design and branding.

As the Social Media and Marketing Specialist, you will:

Social Media Management

  • Develop and execute social media strategies to enhance brand awareness and engagement
  • Create, schedule, and publish content across all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Monitor social media trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities
  • Engage with online communities, respond to comments, and manage direct messages in a timely manner
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics to optimize social media efforts

Marketing & Content Creation

  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns
  • Design graphics and social media assets using tools like Canva and Adobe Suite
  • Write compelling copy for social media
  • Support the creation of newsletters, notices, and other internal communications
  • Help update and maintain the marketing department's documentation, databases, media assets, reports, listings, etc.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing

Event Support & Coordination

  • Support the planning and execution of promotional events, open houses, resident events, and sponsorship activities

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in social media marketing or content creation
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, best practices, and analytic tools
  • Proficiency in content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Valid driver’s license
