Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a results-driven and hands-on individual to join our team at Tonic Living. This role is in-house, with company headquarters at 36 Northline Road, Unit 6 Toronto, Ontario M4B 3E2.

As the Social Media Manager and Content Creator, you will plan, execute, and implement marketing campaigns across multiple social media channels.

You’ll establish a collaborative working relationship with the creative team, who will work with you on strategic and big-picture goals while you take charge of tactical implementation and execution.

The ability to organize, plan, and structure your workload in an autonomous fashion will be absolutely key to your success in this role. We neither have the time nor the inclination to micromanage you. We’re looking for someone who can balance being highly creative but can also get the job done.

The Six Non-Negotiables of This Role Are
  • Copywriting. You’ll be crafting engaging and impactful social media content. Your written skills need to be excellent, and we will expect to see samples of your previous work.
  • Content Conceptualization. A large part of your role will be ideating and executing social media content topics both independently and in collaboration with the creative team. Therefore, an understanding and interest in our industry, along with social media trends and communication best practices is important.
  • Being tech-savvy. You don’t need to be a technical expert, but you must be tech-savvy and able to learn how to use new marketing tools and technologies quickly. You need to be able to both shoot and edit videos (and occasional photos). Your daily tools will be Canva, Adobe Suite, CapCut, Asana, Instagram (including Insights), Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Project management. Ideally, you’ve had experience in project management. A large part of this role is creating and adhering to deadlines and moving simultaneous projects forward to completion.
  • Being teachable and coachable. There will be a LOT of learning on the job as we do marketing very differently. We’re looking for team members who are open-minded, willing to grow, and excited to learn new ways of doing things.
  • Being a self-starter. Goals will be clearly defined from the outset. Often, it will be your job to determine what needs to happen, when, and how. The attitude of continually starting things on your own is very important.
The Job
  • This role is a full-time, in-house position.
  • Salary expectation between $55,000 and $70,000 based on experience
  • Employee benefits plan after 3 months of probation.
Skills Needed/Day-to-Day Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Create and manage content calendar: Develop a content plan, create, schedule, and analyze content. Build high-value content assets and repurpose them across social media channels.
  • Manage Tonic Living’s social media presence, including creating and posting content, responding to comments, engaging with the community, and monitoring metrics.
  • Writing and editing copy for social media whilst adhering to the Tonic Living brand voice/tone.
  • Graphic design: Editing graphics and designing where needed for social media content.
  • Partner outreach: Identifying and reaching out to influencers that can help to grow the Tonic Living social following and brand awareness.
  • Video production: Coordinating and managing video content and production pipeline, and scheduling video content. You need to have video shooting and editing skills for this role!
  • Tracking KPIs and campaign performance: Weekly tracking of key metrics related to social media activities and performance of initiatives, including monitoring metrics such as website traffic, leads generated, and customer engagement**.**
  • Creating and managing project timelines to ensure that there is a consistent flow of social media posts and that campaigns are completed on time.

This role requires you to be highly organized, creative, and responsible. You’ll have a lot of creative freedom, but still need to work within the bounds of the brand vision and voice. Having an interest in home decor, interior design, fashion, and textiles will be to your advantage.

Role Requirements
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. We are unable to sponsor work permits or immigration support for this position.
  • At least two years of experience in a similar role (social media management)
  • Tonic Living is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to inclusive, barrier-free recruitment and selection processes. Accommodations are available upon request during all stages of the hiring process.
