Founded in 2004, Apathy is Boring is a national, youth-led non-partisan, charitable organization that supports and educates youth to be active and contributing citizens in Canada’s democracy.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Communications & Strategic Engagement, the Social Media & Content Manager is responsible for shaping and leading Apathy is Boring’s digital voice and presence across all platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn. This 12-month maternity leave contract is a key leadership role on the Comms team and includes overseeing and collaborating with the Social Media Coordinator.
You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to build and execute creative, strategic, and high-impact digital content that drives engagement, builds community, and supports AisB’s mission of empowering youth to be active participants in democracy.

Key Responsibilities
Digital Strategy & Execution
- Lead the planning, creation, and execution of AisB’s social media content strategy across platforms
- Manage the social content calendar, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and campaign goals
- Use insights and analytics to track performance and continuously optimize content
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and support the Social Media Coordinator, providing mentorship, clear guidance, and feedback
- Collaborate with the Programs, Research & Impact, and Advocacy teams to amplify recruitment, campaigns, and civic engagement efforts
- Maintain alignment with the Communications department’s broader strategies and goals
Content Creation & Brand Voice
- Oversee the production of multimedia content (graphics, short-form video, reels, etc.)
- Write and review platform-specific copy that is informative, shareable, and reflective of our tone and values
- Identify content opportunities, trends, and innovations that keep AisB’s channels fresh and engaging
Community Engagement & Digital Culture
- Monitor, engage, and build community on all platforms in a responsive and authentic way
- Collaborate with creators, partners, and influencers to amplify reach on a campaign basis
- Stay current on internet culture, civic trends, and platform shifts
Admin & Project Management
- Track budgets, deliverables, and timelines for digital content projects and campaigns
- Provide reports and insights to the Director of Communications & Strategic Engagement
- Contribute to internal communications, team meetings, and cross-departmental coordination
- 3+ years managing social media platforms, ideally in a youth-focused or nonprofit context
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
- Strong ability to effectively brief agencies/creators for content
- Excellent copywriting, editing, and visual storytelling abilities
- Familiarity with tools like Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic video editing apps
- Deep understanding of digital engagement, content trends, and youth culture
- Interest & knowledge in civic engagement and social justice
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
