Job description

Join to apply for the Developer Social Content role at Docker, Inc

At Docker, we make app development easier so developers can focus on what matters. Our remote-first team spans the globe, united by a passion for innovation and great developer experiences. With over 20 million monthly users and 20 billion image pulls, Docker is the #1 tool for building, sharing, and running apps—trusted by startups and Fortune 100s alike. We’re growing fast and just getting started. Come join us for a whale of a ride!

Hours: 20 hours a week

Length of contract: 6-7 months

We’re seeking a part-time contractor to help grow Docker’s developer audience across social and community platforms. If you're a developer with a sharp creative edge, fluent in memes and the CLI, and energized by engaging dev communities—this is your jam.

Responsibilities
  1. Build and manage Docker’s developer-focused organic content pipeline for social media — including memes, threads, explainers, carousels, short-form video scripts, and live commentary.
  2. Write sharp, concise, and voice copy that reflects the Docker brand and a point of view: technical, smart, funny, and culturally fluent.
  3. Collaborate across teams to surface stories and amplify strategic initiatives.
  4. Show up authentically in dev spaces — Reddit, Discord, LinkedIn, GitHub, etc. — to engage, learn, and contribute.
  5. Monitor developer conversations and translate community insights into content opportunities and product feedback.
  6. Build relationships with influential developers and creators across platforms.
  7. Bring a consistent, confident, and opinionated voice to Docker’s content.
  8. Develop editorial POVs on industry trends, developer pain points, and emerging conversations.
  9. Maintain an agile, real-time cadence that responds to what developers care about today.
  10. Analyze content performance to inform content types, formats, and posting cadence.
  11. Run content experiments to test headlines, formats, tones, and styles.
  12. Identify growth loops and user-generated content opportunities to scale developer engagement.
Qualifications
  1. 3–5+ years of experience in developer content, social media, or dev advocacy — ideally inside a dev tools, OSS, or SaaS org.
  2. You are a developer who’s built or shipped apps and used Docker in real-world workflows.
  3. Deep knowledge of developer platforms, tools, workflows, and subcultures.
  4. Experience creating content that performs on platforms like LinkedIn, Reddit, and YouTube.
  5. Exceptional copywriting skills — fast, funny, technical, and clear.
  6. Self-starter with high creative energy, strong judgment, and a collaborative spirit.
  7. Experience engaging with online technical communities (e.g., Discord, Reddit, GitHub discussions).
  8. Bonus: video scripting/creation experience or social video storytelling chops.
First 30 Days
  1. Immerse yourself in Docker’s products, roadmap, and brand voice.
  2. Integrate into all current content workflows — assist with copywriting, selecting memes, community responses, and injecting developer POV into active campaigns.
  3. Audit our social presence and community spaces to identify gaps and opportunities.
  4. Begin engaging on social channels under the Docker brand.
  5. Propose your first batch of content ideas and run 1–2 quick wins to build momentum.
  6. Build an ongoing editorial calendar based on dev priorities, product launches, and cultural moments.
First 60 Days
  1. Launch a steady cadence of high-performing, original content across core platforms.
  2. Begin building developer relationships and identifying creators/influencers to partner with.
  3. Establish a tone guide and content formats aligned with developer trends and Docker's voice.
  4. Launch 1–2 experiments based on audience behavior.
First 90 Days
  1. Ship your first full content series and performance report.
  2. Present your strategy to executive stakeholders, with data, content wins, and next-gen ideas.
  3. Start laying the foundation for an owned audience and long-term programs.
