- A diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or related Human Services field, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of seniors’ issues and challenges related to healthy aging
- Familiarity with local support systems and community resources
- Experience with program development and delivery
- Minimum one (1) year of recent experience working with seniors and diverse populations
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interpret human behaviour
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including completing reporting, follow-ups and evaluations.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
- Experience working with volunteers
- Criminal Record Check (renewable every 5 years)
- TB Test
- A valid WCB-approved First Aid Certificate (OFA Level 1)
- Class 5 driver’s license
List of Duties
- As a SOAR Admin Assistant, you will assist low-income higher needs older adults with participation in the SOAR program hosted at Gerry Gray Place.
- This is a new position, supporting the Community Program Assistant Manager in the development and delivery of non-medical recreational programming for seniors and elders 65 and older.
- Working with a team of volunteers for program delivery, you’ll enhance the health and well-being of older adults.
- From directing seniors to appropriate programs and services, to assisting with hot lunches and fitness activities at the centre, your therapeutic recreation experience and administrative skills will make a meaningful impact on the lives of seniors and their families.
- Training will be provided.
- Shift schedules may change due to operational requirements
- This is a one-year contract, with possibility of renewal
- This position is exempt
