Agilus is recruiting for a Snr Mechanical Engineer in the Construction Industry in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer performs the conceptual and detailed design of building Mechanical systems and coordinates design, working drawings, and specifications with in‑house design teams and construction managers. They act as an Engineer of Record on projects of low to high complexity.
Responsibilities
- Design and supervise the design of building mechanical systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for large‑scope and high‑complexity projects and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Coordinate design, working drawings and specifications with the project team.
- Develop and recommend improvements in design standards to lower costs, improve work quality and facilitate maintenance.
- Conduct field reviews and building condition assessments.
- Provide the information required to issue site instructions, contemplated change orders, and responses to contractor‑s requests for information.
- Understand, manage, reduce and mitigate contractual and professional liabilities.
- Resolve/negotiate technical information with authorities having jurisdiction.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ engineering experience in a multi‑disciplinary environment, with at least 5 years of North American experience.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian or USA university or proof of equivalency.
- P.Eng designation required.
- Experience with institutional, retail, industrial, large residential, and commercial projects.
- Advanced knowledge of the Plumbing Code, Building Code, Energy Code, and other regulations, and ability to apply them to projects in their respective jurisdictions.
- Proven experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, load calculations, energy modeling and all other building systems.
- Conversant in reviewing the BIM/Revit modeling process applicable to defined project phases.
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or Passive House accreditation is an asset.
